1 1/2poundsflank steak, sliced thin
4cupsbroccoli, cut into bite-size florets
For the Sauce:
1cupbeef broth
1/2cupsoy sauce
1/4cupbrown sugar
1tablespoonfresh ginger, grated
4clovesgarlic, minced
2tablespoonscornstarch
1teaspoontoasted sesame seeds
2green onions, sliced
Instructions
Season flank steak with salt and pepper and then toss with cornstarch, using your hands to really massage it in so all pieces are coated. Set aside.
In a liquid measuring cup or bowl, mix together 1 c. beef broth, 1/2 c. soy sauce, 1/4 c. brown sugar, 1 Tbsp. fresh grated ginger, 4 cloves minced garlic, and 2 Tbsp. cornstarch. Set aside.
Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir fry 4 c. broccoli for about 4 minutes until crisp-tender. Remove onto a plate.
Add 1 Tbsp. oil and lay strips of beef down flat in the pan (this will need to be done in batches). Let it sear on one side for 2 minutes, and then flip and cook another 1-2 minutes. Remove and place on a paper towel lined plate. Add remaining 1 Tbsp. oil and repeat with remaining beef.
Add beef and broccoli back to the pan and pour the sauce over the top. Stir and cook for 1-2 minutes until sauce thickens.
Garnish with 1 tsp. toasted sesame seeds and 2 sliced green onions. Serve over basmati or jasmine rice.
