Ingredients
4cupsfresh or frozen blackberries
1tablespoonlemon juice
3tablespoonsgranulated sugar
1 1/2tablespoonscornstarch
For the Topping:
3/4cupall-purpose flour
1/2cupgranulated sugar
3/4teaspoonbaking powder
1/8teaspoonsalt
6tablespoonssalted butter, melted
1/2teaspoonvanilla
1 1/2tablespoons turbinado sugar
vanilla ice cream, (for serving)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 8"x8", 7"x11", or pie dish with butter.
Place blackberries in the pan and drizzle with lemon juice. In a small dish, mix the 3 tablespoons sugar with 1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch. Sprinkle over the berries and toss until evenly coated.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix in the melted butter and vanilla until it forms a cookie dough-like batter.
Crumble the mixture over the blackberries and then bake for 30 minutes.
Sprinkle the turbinado sugar over the top and bake 10 more minutes. Turn the oven to broil (or 475°F) and cook another 2 minutes until golden and crunchy.
Let stand for about 15-20 minutes to allow sauce to thicken.
