I first shared this Crock-Pot Wassail recipe on Real Housemoms where I am a contributor. Warm up during the cold winter months with a hot cup of Slow Cooker Wassail. This mulled apple cider is the perfect drink to enjoy with friends and family.

If you have a little girl any where from 2-10 years old you probably have watched an episode or 100 of Sofia the First, and to you I say “Happy Wassailia!” Don’t you just love how songs from your kid’s favorite shows get stuck in your head and you find yourself singing them while doing the dishes? It’s not an actual holiday but wassailing is an English tradition similar to caroling and they would drink Wassail. And this Slow Cooker Wassail is perfect for caroling!

So what is wassail? It’s basically apple cider taken a few notches up with the addition of orange juice, lemon juice, and your favorite fall/winter spices– cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg. Some recipes call for alcohol but this is a kid-friendly, pregnant-friendly, people-who-just- don’t-want-to-drink-friendly version. It’s also super easy since it’s made in your handy dandy slow cooker.

Two glass mugs of slow cooker wassail with an apple slice, orange, slice, cloves, and cinnamon stick floating on top. Hands are wrapped around one of the mugs.

Rather than making it completely from scratch with whole apples, I use the cheater’s method and just grab a half gallon of my favorite locally made apple cider at the store.

All you have to do is mix everything together in a slower cooker and let it cook on low for about 6 to 8 hours to let the flavors and spices really merry together. Just put it together in the early afternoon and it will be ready for your evening party. Easy peasy!

As much as I love hot chocolate (hello Hot Chocolate Cupcakes!), it’s great to have an option for those who don’t want or can’t have dairy and I have no doubt that they will absolutely appreciate and love this Slow Cooker Wassail.

This drink is great during the fall and winter. Perfect for a Christmas party, Halloween party, ice skating, caroling… You can’t go wrong with this wassail.

And not only will you have a delicious drink to share with your friends and family, but your house will smell amazing, or as my husband says “like Christmas!” Enjoy!

Tools used to make this Slow Cooker Wassail:

Slow Cooker– This is very similar to the one I use but it has the addition of a lockable lid which is awesome for when you are transporting food for a party or pot luck, especially soup.

Knife Set– I got this when I got married almost 8 years ago. I use them multiple times a day and they’re still going strong!
