Ingredients for Pickled Red Onions:

  • Red Onion– Red onion are great eaten raw. They add a nice crunch and milder in flavor than yellow onions.
  • Lime Juice– The acid of the lime juice is used instead of vinegar to pickle the onions. It adds more flavor than vinegar but vinegar or lemons can be used in its place.
  • Salt– Used for added flavor. It is best to use pure salt like kosher salt to avoid any additives.
  • Water– Boiling water helps to soften the onions and allow the flavors to marinate quickly.

TOOLS USED TO MAKE THESE PICKLED RED ONIONS:

  • Knife Set– This set comes with all the knives you need and they are of great quality (going on 12 years in my home!).
  • Cutting Board– I love having various sizes of cutting boards and these are awesome because they won’t slip and slide around on the counter.
  • Hand Juicer– This juicer makes it super easy to press out the juice of lemons and limes.
