The holiday parties are in full swing! Have you already started your holiday baking? Do you love peppermint? I do! Especially when paired with chocolate like in Chocolate Peppermint Blossoms, Cream Cheese Peppermint Brownies, and these super easy Peppermint Chocolate Oreo Truffles.

Peppermint Chocolate Oreo Truffles

These truffles are a definite crowd pleaser and what’s great is that they are so easy to make. They also require just FIVE simple ingredients.

These Peppermint Chocolate Oreo Truffles are incredibly rich, soft, creamy, and moist. It’s hard to stop after one.

What is an Oreo Truffle?

They’re actually not a true truffle but rather a cross between a truffle and a cake ball. They’re really simple to make and require so few ingredients. All you need are some Oreos (The entire cookie, filling included!), cream cheese, and peppermint extract (if you’re making the holiday variation). Mix them up in a food processor together and then roll into balls to then dip in melted chocolate. So stinking simple and highly raved about.Close up shot of the inside of a Peppermint Chocolate Oreo Truffle.

How to make Peppermint Chocolate Oreo Truffles:

  1. Place whole Oreos in a food processor or blender and puree until finely crushed. Add the cream cheese and extract. Puree until well combined.
  2. Scoop the mixture out into 1 inch balls (about 2 teaspoons), roll into a ball and place on a wax paper lined pan. Place the balls in the fridge for 2 hours or freezer for 30 minutes.
  3. Melt the chocolate according to directions.  Take half the balls out of the fridge at a time(so the others stay firm and easy to dip). Dip each ball into the chocolate using a toothpick or fork. Let the excess chocolate drip back in the bowl. Place on a wax paper lined baking sheet and immediately sprinkle crushed peppermint candy on top. Repeat with remaining Oreo balls. Remelt the chocolate as needed.

What other variations can I make?

  • Plain Chocolate- Leave out the extract and candy cane on top.
  • White Chocolate- Dip in white chocolate instead of regular.
  • Berry- Add a fruit extract and then sprinkle freeze dried crushed fruit on top. Trader Joe’s sells various freeze dried fruit.
  • Peanut Butter- Substitute 2 ounces cream cheese for 1/4 cup peanut butter.

Kitchen Aid Food Processor– This is great for chopping up, well, anything! I use it for making crusts, salsa, these truffles…
