My mom is seriously the best. She spoiled my siblings and I with the most delicious homemade treats including these French Breakfast Puffs. Honestly these were my favorite muffins growing up. You just can’t beat a tender fluffy muffin rolled in melted butter and cinnamon and sugar. They’re good at room temperature but eat them fresh out of the oven an you won’t be able to resist going back for seconds.

How to Make French Breakfast Puffs:

The first step is to mix the dry ingredients together so that everything, especially the leavening agents, are properly distributed. Then you cream the butter, sugar, and eggs together and add in the dry ingredients to it a little at a time, adding the milk in between adding the dry ingredients.

You’ll then fill the muffin liners and bake. I find using a trigger cookie scoop makes this process way faster, easier, and less messy.

Once the muffins come out of the oven and are cool enough to handle, take them out of the liners and roll in melted butter. Then roll them in a bowl of cinnamon and sugar. Now it’s time to enjoy! And thoroughly enjoy them, you will!

Tools used to make French Breakfast Puffs:

Trigger Ice Cream Scoop– This makes filling muffins tins so much faster, easier, and cleaner. Plus, adds the perfect amount of batter to the well.

Muffin/Cupcake Tin– Every kitchen needs a muffin tin. This is my favorite. I use it for cupcakes, muffins, mini frittatas….

Rubber Bottom Mixing Bowls– The rubber handle and bottom of these bowls makes them the perfect mixing bowls. I use them all the time from mixing pancake batter to pie dough to cake batter.

    Hi Melanie,
The muffins look really good.I’m making them tomorrow.I do have one question,do you mix the milk with the
Softened butter, sugar and egg then add the dry ingredients. The post said to add dry ingredients to milk but
Not sure if you do that, then add sugar egg and butter.Thanks.

Betty, Sorry that was confusing. I edited it to make it more clear. You’re adding the flour and the milk to the butter mixture, alternating adding a little of each.

We had a little extra time for breakfast this morning so I tried these. Very yummy! My oldest said, “These are great. Next time put in a cream filling then they’d be even more awesome.” 🙂
